Simon holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Applied Chemistry from Nottingham Trent University and a Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from Aston University.  Simon began his career at Fractionation Research Inc. in Oct. 1993 and embarked on a most enjoyable combined 10 years actively engaged in research at FRI.  To this day his greatest achievement is the FRI Structured Packing Fundamentals video.

Over a 27-year timeline, Simon held process, senior process and technical sales engineer positions for companies such as Sulzer Chemtech, ExxonMobil and Raschig. In that timeline, Simon gained valuable experience with tower internals supervision / inspections in the field both domestically and in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Far East.

Simon is a senior member of AIChE and authored several technical articles including the Chemical Engineering and Design Most Cited Author 2006-2009 award together with Dr. Michael Schultes.
