Ida received a PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Michigan, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Tianjin University, China. Ida is currently a Research Fellow and Global Innovation Leader of Food, Feed and Pharmaceutical in the Dow Chemical Company. Ida’s research interests have concentrated on food processing, sustainability, and human health. She has commercialized more than 20 innovative products in various markets including pharmaceutical and food. She has also initiated research collaboration with global universities and national labs on game-changing technologies aimed at providing a more sustainable planet and society. Ida has published 100+ scientific papers/presentations and currently has 85 U.S. patent applications with 23 granted U.S. patents. In the past five years, Ida has been an awardee of 8 prestigious national/international awards from the American Chemical Society, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and Society of Global Chinese Chemical Engineers. Several of Ida’s patented technologies, including next Gen foam control agent for food processes, have been recognized as the 2022 ICIS Best Product Innovation Award Finalist, 2022 “Chemical Week” Sustainability Award Finalist, 2021 R&D 100 Award, and 2022 Edison Award. She is an industrial advisory board member of several programs funded by the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy.
